The alley develops underneath Palace of the Podestà and unites Broletto Square to Herbs Square. On the right, you can still see the niches corresponding to what were once the workshops of the tinsmiths, the craftsmen who worked metal in the Middle Ages. On the left, there is a staircase that is not original to the period, built in neo-Gothic style by the architect Adreani in the early 20th century, when he took charge of the renovation of the building.
