Activities for schools

One of the main objectives of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre it is the transmission to future generations of the world's cultural and natural heritage, starting from the assumption that compliance with the cultural diversity and the dialogue between cultures represent the best guarantee for development and peace. Since 2008, the’Mantua and Sabbioneta World Heritage Office offers educational courses and experiences to gain knowledge of the site Mantua and Sabbioneta in light of the Declaration of Outstanding Universal Value, paying particular attention to the issues of the fragility of heritage and the need to take care of it.

BASIC TRAINING COURSES
For several years the’Mantua and Sabbioneta World Heritage Office proposes to the schools of the area of basic training courses. The routes are made up of interactive classroom lessons And guided thematic visits to the two historic centers, in order to know the site Mantua and Sabbioneta starting from UNESCO Declaration of Outstanding Universal Value. The courses are aimed at understanding the role of World Heritage in the construction of a personal, individual and social identity. They also allow students to develop a sense of responsibility and encourage actions of active citizenship.

SPECIAL IN-DEPTH PROJECTS
Alongside the basic training courses, the following are proposed: special in-depth projects dedicated to specific topics. Starting from the knowledge of the Mantua and Sabbioneta site it is in fact possible to tackle different areas: from the dialogue between cultures to the heritage interpretation projects for sustainable tourism, passing through the revisitation of dishes of Renaissance origin, there are many areas in which the knowledge of our cultural heritage helps us to better face the present and consolidate our identity as aware citizens.

Guardians of Heritage – School Days for World Heritage
The School Heritage Days were born from the desire to showcase to the city the activities carried out by schools during the recently concluded school year, creating opportunities for students to meet and discuss ideas. 

TEACHING MATERIALS FOR TEACHERS
On this page, teachers can access various tools that allow them to explore World Heritage topics in class, even independently. kit which tells the story of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, at the site World Heritage in School, up to the cartoons of Heritage, all of these materials are freely available to all teachers and students.
