A suggestive view of Mantua
Around Mantua there is a path, which can be travelled on foot or by bicycle, which crosses the Periurban Park of the city. The route was established in 1998 with the aim of reclaiming and enhancing the green spaces along the lakeshores. Some sections are particularly picturesque, such as the one connecting Via Fondamenta-Porto Catena area (on the Lower Lake) to Porta Mulina (on the Middle Lake), which offers a splendid view of the city skyline; or the one from Porta Mulina to Cittadella and Porta Giulia, along the Upper Lake, which offers unique sunsets over the lake and views of the Mincio Valleys Nature Reserve.
A motorboat ride in the protected area of Mincio Park
From the lake shores, inside the park, you can also embark using the motorboat service and enjoy the thrill of seeing Mantua from the water. The entire park is part of the Mincio Park, a protected area that extends along the river in the province of Mantua. This natural oasis is a treasure trove of biodiversity, home to herons, egrets, night herons, marsh harriers, ibises, storks, and numerous other protected species.
