From the railway station (B) you can travel on APAM lines: 4C / 4S / 4T / 12.
All APAM buses are equipped with a lifting platform and there is a voice announcement service for stops on urban routes. At the moment, in order to receive adequate assistance, notification of the intention to use the service is required no later than two working days before use.
For further information, please visit: APAM - Servizi per la mobilità
By car
There are several parking areas very near the building, including reserved parking spaces (marked on the map). The paving in the car parks is cobbled and it is necessary to cover medium-long distance before reaching a pavement. Under certain conditions, such as the use of a manual wheelchair, this could be hazardous and/or uncomfortable.
PALAZZO DUCALE
Ticket office
The ticket office is under the arches in Piazza Sordello. The reception desk is high for a person in a wheelchair, so you may need the help of a companion or to ask the staff on duty to leave their workstation.
Entrance to the building
Due to the complexity and vastness of the Ducal Palace, it has not been possible to eliminate all the architectural barriers along the visitors' route. Nevertheless, physically disabled visitors can easily complete the entire museum itinerary, albeit in a different order. The main entrance is located in Piazza Castello, accessed by crossing a cobbled path which is rather difficult for a person in a wheelchair. For this reason, the entrance for visitors in wheelchairs is located in piazza Sordello 40, through the entrance hall under the portico. In this case, please notify the museum staff (0376 352100) who will accompany the visitor.
The presence of an external accompanying person is recommended but not strictly necessary.
Visitor route
Visitors in wheelchairs are accompanied by the museum staff, who will operate the lifts and elevator platforms. At the entrance to the building, there is a small lift measuring approximately 100 cm on each side, which means that it is not easily accessible by everyone.
Access to the Corte Vecchia is via a suitably sized lift platform.
The exhibition areas are accessible thanks to wooden ramps and stair lifts.
Due to the shape of the display cases, in some cases children or persons in wheelchairs might find it difficult to see the objects on show and information system.
Toilets
The toilets are accessible by people with disabilities (as indicated by law).
Additional facilities
No additional aids are available along the main visitor route to enable blind persons and those with vision impairments to become more familiar with the venue. Nevertheless, thanks to the materials available to be touched, a tactile and sensory tour has been organised entitled “With your eyes”, together with “The paradises of the Gonzagas”, a sensory tour of the palace gardens.
