Heritage and Care: Youth Talk
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the UNESCO Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Mantua and Sabbioneta UNESCO World Heritage Office and the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO are hosting the event "Heritage and Care: Youth Talk," in order to foster the active participation of new generations in heritage preservation.
On Saturday, November 12th from 3 p.m., a Pecha Kucha Afternoon will be staged at Loggia del Grano in Mantua: a Japanese light presentation format. All young people between the ages of 16 and 30, also in groups up to 3 people, are invited to present a heritage (cultural or natural) to which they feel particularly attached and share it with their peers. The prompts are few and simple: use only 20 slides and schedule the presentation to last 20 seconds each slide. At the end of the presentation we would like one or two slides to answer the question, "What would you like the institutions and your peers to do more to protect this heritage?". More information on how to make a Pecha Kucha presentation here: link.
To apply as a speaker, you can register from October 18th to November 7th, and presentations are accepted in both Italian and English. To register, simply send an email to lombardia@aiguofficial.it, including your full name, age, language of presentation and name of your chosen heritage.
The event will be open to all, involving interested people and passersby with the setup of a board where anyone can, through an instant printer, reproduce their own photograph of a Heritage Site from their mobile phone, sticking it on a map that will show the World Heritage.
It will follow an aperitif with live music at 6 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you!!!
