Traces of the previous medieval structure can still be seen in the ogival windows, indicating that arched windows once existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the fifteenth century, in fact, on the occasion of the <em>Renovatio Urbis<\/em> commissioned by the Gonzaga family and after a fire that partially destroyed the building, Luca Fancelli, a pupil of Alberti, revised the medieval structure making changes according to the taste of the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The windows of <strong>Palace of the Podest\u00e0 <\/strong>They are in Renaissance style and the blind battlements along the entire edge are a clear trademark of Fancelli.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of the twentieth century, during a renovation carried out by the architect Andreani, the remains of the ancient medieval windows were discovered and it was decided to keep them visible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palazzo del Podest\u00e0 recently reopened to the public after a sophisticated process of consolidation and restoration. And it is precisely in this historic building that the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/en\/poi\/museo-virgilio\/\" data-type=\"poi\" data-id=\"2178\">Virgil Museum<\/a><\/strong>, a new one&nbsp;<strong>cultural and innovative space<\/strong>&nbsp;dedicated to the great Latin poet, which the city has decided to dedicate to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, the bond between Virgil and Mantua is as deep as&nbsp;<em>live<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 it is no coincidence that, in the Middle Ages, Palazzo del Podest\u00e0 earned the nickname \u201cPalazzo di Virgilio\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palazzo del Podest\u00e0 welcomes a\u00a0<strong>contemporary museum<\/strong>\u00a0Where\u00a0<strong>precious finds<\/strong>, ancient specimens of the\u00a0<strong>Virgilian works<\/strong>\u00a0And\u00a0<strong>multimedia content<\/strong>\u00a0coexist with\u00a0<strong>frescoes<\/strong>\u00a0returned to see the light after centuries: all to
