At a time when papal bulls promoted the segregation of Jews into ghettos, Vespasiano allowed Jewish families to settle freely within the city, without imposing any form of separation. The community played a fundamental role in <strong>trade<\/strong>, In the <strong>credit <\/strong>and in the <strong>financial activities<\/strong>, helping to connect Sabbioneta to the main trading networks of northern Italy. Of particular importance was also the\u2019<strong>typographic activity<\/strong>: in 1551 Tobia Fo\u00e0 started one of the most important Jewish printing presses of the time, from which religious, legal and literary works were published which were distributed in numerous European Jewish communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside printing, Jews participated in the city&#039;s economic life through shops, artisanal activities, and services, contributing to the city&#039;s prosperity. Thanks to the policy of tolerance implemented by Vespasiano Gonzaga, the Jewish community was able to develop its own institutions and freely practice its religion. <strong>worship<\/strong>, leaving a profound mark on Sabbioneta&#039;s history.
