{"id":5702,"date":"2026-09-29T10:02:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T08:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/?p=5702"},"modified":"2026-10-05T13:00:22","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T11:00:22","slug":"mshc-schede-con-simboli-della-comunicazione-aumentativa-alternativa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/en\/mshc-schede-con-simboli-della-comunicazione-aumentativa-alternativa\/","title":{"rendered":"MSHC \u2013 Augmentative and Alternative Communication Symbol Cards"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GUIDE TO THE UNESCO SITE<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A World Heritage Site must be a heritage \u201cof all and for all\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As expressed in the <em>UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities<\/em> (Law 3 March 2009, n. 18), it is necessary to promote independent and self-determined living in daily life and free time (art. 19), just as it is an enforceable right to access information (art. 21) and to express interests and opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, to ensure increasingly broader accessibility to our heritage, regardless of individual perceptual, motor, or cognitive abilities, we have created information sheets using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) symbols to explain the main features of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mantua and Sabbioneta and the reasons for its inclusion in the World Heritage List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visitors can use them in the Mantua and Sabbioneta Heritage Centre (Giulio Romano&#039;s Fish Market in Mantua, Palazzo del Cavalleggero, and Palazzo Giardino in Sabbioneta). Upon request, the Mantua and Sabbioneta World Heritage Office makes them available for educational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This action was carried out as part of the projects \u201cMantova and Sabbioneta Heritage Centre,\u201d funded by the Ministry of Culture (Law 77\/2006) and \u201cMantova and Sabbioneta for all,\u201d implemented with the contribution of the Lombardy Region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>In collaboration with the TauLab network project<\/strong> <strong>(Laboratory of Technologies for Universal Accessibility)<\/strong> <strong>and with the scientific contribution of Dr. Ketty Azzoni, expert in Augmentative Communication<\/strong> <strong>And<\/strong> <strong>Alternative.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5771\" style=\"width:631px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2-450x253.jpg 450w, https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mantovasabbioneta-unesco.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Progetto-senza-titolo-2-18x10.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>THE PROJECT<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The descriptive sheets created for the Mantua-Sabbioneta UNESCO Site contain information aimed at understanding the essential urban characteristics of the two towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The uniqueness of the cards lies in the accessibility criteria with which they were designed for maximum usability. The contents, transposed into WLS symbols (Widgit Symbols \u00a9 Widgit Software 2002-2025), are printed on both sides, laminated, and bound with a reinforced ring binder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The accessibility needs related to content comprehensibility and supported by reworking with one of the AAC symbolic systems were supported by effective usability of the paper documents. The cards meet needs related to Complex Communication Needs (CCN) conditions and are intended to facilitate motor skills due to their ease of handling.
