Visitor route

Ground floor:

Next to the ticket office there is a video station with seating. The video is activated by a push-button panel. The panel can be identified by color contrast, magnified characters, and Braille lettering. The video is available in Italian and English, with subtitles. LIS (Italian Sign Language) video is also present.

The entire route is flat and allows visitors to admire the loggia on the outdoor courtyard and two additional rooms and one dedicated to educational workshops.

Along the path on all floors there are tactile maps of the museum, with captions in braille and magnified characters. A tactile model of the entire museum is also displayed at the entrance.

The opening of the doors along the route may require the assistance of a guide or of the staff on duty.

There is a fairly steep staircase to proceed to the upper floor, but if you retrace the route backwards, there is a lift at the beginning that provides access to all the floors of the museum.

First and second floors:

The path on the upper floors is flat. Stool seats are available for visitors.

Black folding chair stand placed in an interior corner of the museum.

In some cases, the design of displays may make it difficult for children or wheelchair users to see objects or information. Transparent and mirrored surfaces, along with reflections from lighting, may limit the viewing of objects and captions to different users.

Museum display case containing numerous small archaeological artifacts, arranged on shelves covered in light-colored fabric. The height of the highest shelves prevents the objects from being visible.

Horizontal museum display case with black frame and clear glass case containing a collection of ancient coins. Lighting restricts the view of objects by position and reflections created.

The museum has an app with audio descriptions of the exhibits, which can also be activated by QR Codes placed in the museum's information system.

Orientation panel of the museum “Mantova Collezioni Antiche” with three-dimensional map of the three exhibition floors, accompanied by pictograms and colors differentiated for each collection. The stand features a QR code for downloading the app with audio descriptions of the exhibits.

Toilets

The toilets on the ground floor are accessible by people with disabilities (as indicated by law), with entrance from the outdoor courtyard.

Additional facilities

Next to the ticket office on the ground floor, there is a bookshop with adequate space, but the shelves are high. Staff are trained to cope with everyone’s needs.
