Timeframe: 2022-2026
Objectives: The Municipality of Mantua has obtained funding from the Ministry of Tourism amounting to 390,690.16 Euros for the development of the project MANTUA AND SABBIONETA: TWO CITIES, ONE SITE. The initiative aims to promote the recovery of tourist flows, strengthening and enhancing the tourist attraction capacity resulting from the presence of UNESCO Sites, also at an international level, and sets the objective of increasing the tourist presence of 5% compared to 2019 data.
The main idea and the tourist attraction strategy aim to overcome the individuality of the two historic centres and to optimise the synergies resulting from the cultural, natural and social potential of the site so that this is presented on the tourist market, both national and international, as unique tourist destination, knowledge of which requires an extension of the average tourist's stay, to ensure an in-depth understanding of the aspects underlying UNESCO recognition.
The lines of intervention include: the creation of digital tourism promotion and enhancement tools (new website and webapp), the restyling of tourist signage, The strengthening of services for tourists, including the new Mantua – Sabbioneta BIK&BUS connection service, as well as the activation of experiential and innovative forms of reading and animation of heritage which place not only the visitor but also the local community at the centre.
